CopWatch
ActiveMississippi Center for Justice
A crowd-sourced mobile reporting application, built with the Mississippi Center for Justice, that lets community members document and share police, ICE, and federal-agent activity.
CopWatch is a community-safety collaboration with the Mississippi Center for Justice: a crowd-sourced phone application for documenting and sharing the locations of police, ICE, and federal-agent activity in Mississippi communities.
The problem
Communities and the advocates who serve them often lack a shared, timely picture of law-enforcement activity in their area. Individual observations stay siloed: a report here, a phone call there. They never become information a community can act on.
The approach
A mobile-first reporting tool built with React Native, backed by PostgreSQL, that turns individual community reports into a shared, structured dataset. Crowd-sourced observations are collected, located, and surfaced so that community members and advocates work from the same live picture.
Status
In active development.
